As you can see there have been some major changes and upgrades; we've used more graphics and less tables. We actually have more dynamic information now than ever before. Before we get into details here are some tips:
Across the top of the page you'll find Internet traffic: current inbound and outbound traffic, the number of users and connections; from there traffic routes to either servers or users. Traffic is categorized by Group (Dorms, Administrative, Academic, etc.) and protocol (Streaming, Web, etc.).
On the right-hand side you will find information about our clients; how they are connected, how many and which buildings are creating the most traffic.
On the left-hand side below the Inbound Traffic Counter you will see DNS and DHCP activity. DNS is used to resolve names (www.bsu.edu) to their internal addresses that the Internet uses. DHCP is the mechanism to automatically had you an appropriate IP address when you restart (boot) your system.
The items across the bottom of the screen are factual items intended to provide you with additional information you might want to know.
